Washington D.C. – Following passage of  H.R. 695 - Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2018, Representative John Culberson (TX-07) issued the following statement: 

“I’m proud to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Appropriations Act for FY 2018, because it meets the current needs of our great men and women in uniform. This bill will give our troops a much-needed pay raise, and provide them with the resources, equipment and training they need to maintain our leadership role as the world's strongest military. 

"Senator Schumer has used the 60-vote rule in the Senate to block the Hurricane Harvey relief bill and every single appropriations bill. I urge Senator Schumer to stop blocking the desperately needed Hurricane Harvey relief bill and our appropriations bills, including this urgently needed bill to fund the U.S. military. Every day that goes by without a long-term defense spending agreement puts our men and women in uniform at greater risk. We need a budget deal in place as soon as possible to address the needs of our military.”
