Representative John Culberson (TX-07) was reappointed Chairman of the Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Subcommittee on Appropriations for the 115th Congress by the Republican Steering Committee today. This subcommittee is responsible for funding the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other related agencies. This is Representative Culberson’s second term chairing the CJS Subcommittee.

“I am honored that my House Republican colleagues have reappointed me to chair the Commerce, Justice and Science Subcommittee, and I look forward to working with Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen on the critically important work facing the Appropriations Committee in the year ahead,” Congressman Culberson said.

“I will continue to be a good steward of the taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars. My highest priority as Chairman is protecting the lives and property of Americans by enforcing federal law through the power of the purse and providing vital resources to America’s law enforcement agencies. I’ve worked with the Department of Justice to certify the country’s top ten sanctuary cities as noncompliant with federal law, and I will continue working to defund any jurisdiction that violates federal immigration law. I also look forward to continuing the subcommittee’s work to restore NASA to the glory days of Apollo by ensuring that American scientists are the first to discover life on another world and an American spacecraft is the first to achieve interstellar travel.”
