Washington, DC – Representative John Culberson (TX-07) released the following statement in response to the FBI’s announcement that they would reopen an investigation into Secretary Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time at the Department of State.

“The FBI’s decision to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server gives me confidence that justice will prevail in this case. Her careless behavior and inept judgment has put American security at risk. Public officials should be held to the highest standards, not given special treatment. While I was disappointed with the FBI’s original recommendation to forgo charges, I hope that their investigation yields further insight into the possible damage that Clinton’s carelessness might have caused.

“In addition, I support Speaker Ryan’s call for the Director of National Intelligence to immediately suspend all classified briefings for Secretary Clinton until the FBI has concluded their investigation.”
