Rep. Culberson Announces 2016 Congressional Art CompetitionWashington, D.C. – Congressman John Culberson announced the 2016 Congressional Art Competition for Texas’ 7th Congressional District today. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent. Students that reside in Texas’ 7th District are encouraged to submit their original work to Rep. Culberson’s office. A panel of local artists and community leaders will select the winning entry. The winners of each participating congressional district will have their art displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol Complex and receive a free roundtrip ticket from Southwest Airlines to attend a reception held in Washington, DC on June 23, 2016. “The level of talent in our area is truly impressive,” said Congressman Culberson. “It is always so wonderful to see how students from across the district express themselves. Last year, there were forty-nine entries from nine different schools and the talent was incredible. I’m excited to see the artwork that this year’s competition brings.” Students who are interested in participating should drop off one piece of artwork by April 18, 2016 to: Rep. Culberson’s District Office 10000 Memorial Drive, Suite 620 Houston, Texas 77024 Guidelines for artwork can be found at www.culberson.house.gov.
