Rep. Culberson Accepting Submissions from Students in the 7th Congressional District Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. “It is my distinct pleasure to be a sponsor of the 2012 Congressional Art Competition for high school art students in the 7th Congressional District,” said Rep. Culberson.  “This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to be recognized for their creative talents, and I encourage anyone that is interested to submit their artwork.” Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of local artists in each district select the winning entries, which are then displayed for one year at the United States Capitol. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC. Since it began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Deadline for entries is April 30, 2012 before 3:00pm CT.  All entries must be submitted to Rep. Culberson’s district office located at 10000 Memorial Drive, Suite 620, Houston, TX 77024.  Office hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm CT.  If you are not able to drop off the artwork at the district office, please contact the office at 713-682-8828 and a staff member will arrange to have it picked up.
