Congressman John Culberson (TX-07) issued the following statement on the extension of the payroll tax exemption:
“I am extremely disappointed that a year-long extension giving taxpayers, employers, and seniors more certainty was ignored by the Senate. However, they left very little choice for those of us in the House when they refused to put the people of this country before their personal holiday. American families did not need to face a tax increase and this extension will hold the Senate to their word to come together with the House to reach a year-long agreement when we return in January. The silver-lining in all of this is that President Obama will be forced to get off center and make a decision on the Keystone Pipeline project that will provide countless jobs for our nation, and particularly Texas.”
