  • Rep. Culberson Pledges His Support of ME TOO Congress Act of 2017

    Today, Representative John Culberson (TX-07), a senior member of the House Appropriations committee, signed on to H.R. 4396, the Member and Employee Training and Oversight On Congress (ME TOO Congress) Act of 2017. This pivotal legislation will provide transparency to the sexual harassment settlement process by requiring the Office of Compliance to submit an annual report to Congress, as well as publish it on their website, identifying each office that paid out an award or settlement as a result of a violation in the Congressional Accountability Act. Additionally, this bill would require Members of Congress who are accused of perpetrating the assault to reimburse the Treasury directly in the amount of the settlement. Read more

    The OMB request is very disappointing. Not only is it completely inadequate, it shows OMB’s complete lack of understanding of the fundamental needs of Texans. They responded to the largest housing disaster to date without requesting any money to help Texans rebuild their homes. After Houston was drowned in 52 inches of water, OMB proposed a new, unproven pilot program for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to try out, and then opened it up to 33 other states and four territories to compete for these limited dollars.
