Statement on Israel’s Blockade of Gaza

Posted by Scott Gosnell in In The News

The United States must express steadfast support for the peace and security of Israel and for the blockade of Gaza.  Israel has the right to take any action necessary for her self-defense and self-preservation, and this includes blocking or rerouting shipments of supplies that can be used to construct rockets, underground bunkers, and weapons factories.  The blockade of Gaza has proven vital to keep weapons and other resources out of the hands of the terrorist organization Hamas.  My House colleagues and I recently wrote to Prime Minister Netanyahu, expressing our support for the Israeli people, the Israeli government, and their actions to prevent terrorist attacks against innocent civilians.  In addition, I have cosponsored H.R. 5501, a bill condemning the UN Human Rights Council’s outrageous reaction to the flotilla incident and prohibiting U.S. contributions to the United Nations from paying for any biased U.N. investigation into the incident.
