Second Amendment Rights
Thomas Jefferson said, “Laws that forbid the carrying of arms … disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes … Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
Throughout my years of public service, I have always been a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights. During my 14 years as a Texas State Representative, I helped pass legislation allowing individuals to carry concealed handguns with a permit. This law enables Texans protect themselves and their families from dangerous criminals. Since the law passed, Texas has seen significant drops in its violent crime rates.
The Framers of our Constitution established the Second Amendment with the intent of protecting every individual’s right to keep and bear arms. I believe the best way to reduce crime rates is by enforcing the laws that are already on the books rather than restricting the gun rights of law-abiding American citizens. You can be sure that I will always fight to defend your Second Amendment rights.
Dear Mr Culberson:
As the wife of an avid hunter and outdoorsman and someone who strongly supports the rights of the gun owners and the second amendment, I strongly urge you to do everything possbile to stop HR45. This is insanity and will only make those of us who live within the boundary of the law vulnerable to those who do not.

I’ve just read about the HR45, Blair Holt’s Firearm Bill. This is not good. It will not stop unlawful sales. Vote “No” LOUDLY. This is insane.
