I’m proud to be an original coauthor of a bill sponsored by Dr. Tom Price of Georgia that would keep the IRS from enforcing Obamacare. By targeting organizations based on their political affiliation, the IRS has proven to be untrustworthy and should not be in charge of our health care. We should not have to turn over private health insurance information about our families to an organization that has abused its power in a biased, political manner.
This morning, I spoke on the House floor in support of this legislation.
The bill the House passed today affirms the common-sense principle that health care decisions should remain between individuals and their doctors, not bureaucrats at the IRS. I’m proud to lead the fight against Obamacare, and I will continue to do everything in my power to defund, repeal, and replace the law.
On the Appropriations Committee, I have also worked closely with Congressman Ander Crenshaw to defund Obamacare's individual mandate and to eliminate all the new IRS agents that were to be assigned to Obamacare enforcement. I expect to see this bill on the floor in September.
