Culberson Chairs First Military Construction-VA Appropriations Subcommittee Hearing of 2014 

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Culberson (TX-07) issued the following statement after he chaired the first Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee hearing of 2014. The hearing focused on the quality of life in the military. 

“Today, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee heard from the senior enlisted leaders in each branch of the military. The testimony from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and the Air Force provided Members with valuable information and ideas for how Congress can better serve our men and women in uniform. I and the other Members on this subcommittee are committed to ensuring that our active duty military and veterans have the support and resources that they need.”

The subcommittee hearing began at 10:30 am today, in 2358-A Rayburn House Office Building. Sergeant Major of the Army Raymond F. Chandler, III, Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Micheal Barrett, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Michael Stevens, and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James Cody testified at the hearing. Chandler, Barrett, Stevens, and Cody are the senior enlisted leaders of their respective branches of the military. The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee focuses on construction and quality of life issues for the active duty military and has full funding authority over the Department of Veterans Affairs.
