“I place economy among the first and most important of republican virtues, public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared.” ~Thomas Jefferson

We most often hear about the over $17 trillion national debt that grows with each passing day.  While this figure is no doubt scary, it is only the tip of the iceberg with regards to our country’s financial standing.  As it stands right now, the actual liabilities of our entire federal government are in excess of $98 trillion.

In order to provide our children with the same limitless opportunities we have enjoyed, we must drastically alter the direction of our federal government.  This is not an easy task – most Americans do not want less from their government, they just want it to cost less.  We must shrink both the size and scope of our government.

Most government programs can be handled by the private sector and provide much better services while at the same time not costing the taxpayer a cent. Privatizing whole sectors of the federal government will reduce the power of the federal government and give Americans more control over their personal choices and financial futures.  As a staunch constitutional conservative, I have consistently voted to reduce the size and scope of the federal government and will always fight to ensure that our country remains in control of the American people, not Washington bureaucrats.
