After murder of Houston police officer, John Culberson says he ‘will not rest’ until Mexican border is secured

Following a Houston police officer’s death at the hands of an illegal immigrant, Rep. John Culberson, R-Houston, vowed to secure the nation’s southern border.
In a one-minute floor speech on Tuesday, Culberson attributed problems with gangs, violence, drugs and guns to illegal immigration.

“I will not rest, the Texas delegation will not rest, until the southern border is secure to protect the people of Texas (and) the people of this nation,” he said.
Culberson cited the death of Houston police officer Kevin Will as evidence of the problem. While interviewing a witness of a motorcycle accident Sunday night, Will was hit by a drunk driver and died. The driver, an illegal immigrant, faces charges of intoxication manslaughter of a peace officer, felony evading in a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

Will is one of several Houston police officers who have been injured or killed by illegal immigrants in recent years.

“This Congress, this appropriations committee and the new Republican conservative majority in the House is staying focused on the vital mission of national security, beginning with border security,” Culberson said, “to ensure that no more law officers like Officer Will – no more Americans – lose their lives at the hands of illegal aliens.”
