Congressman Culberson helped to direct funding to the following projects in Fiscal Year 2009:

  • $3.2 million for the Alliance for NanoHealth to develop nanomedicine to identify and cure human diseases at the earliest stages of development.
  • $2.4 million for Rice University’s armchair quantum wire project to dramatically improve the efficiency of electrical systems used by the Air Force and, in the longer term, to help make American energy independent.
  • $1.6 million for Methodist Hospital to develop nano-imaging agents to ensure drug delivery devices reach targeted cells.
