Congressman Culberson helped to direct funding to the following projects in Fiscal Year 2007:
- $1.1 million for the Alliance for Nanohealth for research into specific medical needs for the Army.
- $1 million for Rice University to develop quantum wires to improve the engineering performance of future Air Force platforms.
